Fiji to host first ever PGA tournament

History has been created as Fiji will host the Fiji International PGA tournament for the first time ever next year.

A PGA tournament is one of the largest sporting tournaments in the world.

The Fiji International will be a leg of the Australian Professional Golfers Association or PGA where a total of one million US Dollars will be up for grabs.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Chairman of Australian PGA, Brian Thorbourn signed a MOU where the international tournament will be held at the Natadola Bay golf course for the next five years.

The 72 hole four day tournament will be televised to over 427 million viewers in 47 countries.

Commodore Bainimarama said this is a great opportunity for Fiji to showcase it's potential in the world but at the end of the day the flow on effects from this tournament are huge.
