The Digicel Fiji 7s team has secured a semifinal spot with neighbors Samoa after a hard fought battle with world champions Wales in the quarter finals.
Fiji managed to escape a fired up Welsh side with a 12-5 win.
Missed tackles, poor passes and lack of communications nearly cost the national side the game but captain courageous Setefano Cakau stepped up in style as he scored two tries.
Assistant Coach Etuate Waqa said he is proud of the boys especially with two players being injured from yesterday.
In other quarter finals, New Zealand escaped England with a 12-5 win, South Africa hammered Argentina 24 - 5 while Samoa beat Kenya 19 - 14.
The Cup semi final will start at 7.32am tomorrow with New Zealand meeting South Africa and Fiji will meet Samoa at 7.54am.
The Cup final will be played at 10.28am.
