Fiji will now meet Argentina at 3:12pm in the first Cup quarterfinals of the Hong Kong 7s after beating Australia 22-5 in their final pool game last night.
Fiji finished as the top team after three rounds of pool games with maximum points.
Metuisela Talebula put up a brave performance by scoring two tries and was instrumental in attack and defense as well.
Captain Setefano Cakau grabbed a try each with former Natabua High school student Joji Ragamate.
Coach Alifereti Dere opted for a different line up as he gave all the players a run before today's knockout stages.
Former Wallaby and Fiji's most successful coach Ilivasi Tabua said that the coaching staff has done the right thing by utilizing all players during pool play.
Tabua added that now coach Alifereti Dere have a good idea which team he will field to play Argentina.
In other Cup quarterfinals Australia will play England at 3:34pm, Samoa will tackle South Africa at 3:56pm and New Zealand will come up against Wales in the last quarterfinals at 4:18pm.
Meanwhile in last night’s final pool game results Samoa beat England 14-12 while New Zealand defeated South Africa 19-10, Portugal defeated Russia 17-10, Wales thrashed USA 42-7, Hong Kong humbled China 29-5, Japan demolished Guyana 38-5.
