The Flying Fijians started their defense of their Pacific Nations title with a win in Lautoka this afternoon after they beat Japan by 22-8.
Fiji came out with three tries to Nikola Matawalu, Timoci Nagusa and Iliesa Keresoni.
Flying Fijians captain Dominiko Waqaniburotu said that his message to the boys was just to keep it simple and play well.
However, Waqaniburotu said that he is happy they won their first match, but it will not be easy from the next game as they will be playing in Samoa.
The Flying Fijians team will leave our shores tonight and will play in Samoa for the rest of the PNC competition.
