The Digicel Fiji 7s team is through to the quarter finals of the USA 7s after beating Scotland 31-14 in their second pool game.
Rover Miti Nacagilevu open the scores in the 2nd minute for Fiji to lead 7-0 but Scotland replied with a try to level the score at 7-7 but Nacagilevu again showed his class when he went past 3 defenders to off load to Nikola Matawalu for the second try and a 14-7 lead.
Matawalu proved his worth in the side with a try at the stroke of half time for a 21-7 lead.
In the second half, a mistake from play-maker Peni Gaunimeke allowed Scotland to bounce back and reduced the deficit 26-14 before Jerry Burotu scored Fiji’s 4th try as they lead 26-14 and Emosi Vacago crossed for the 5th try at full-time for Fiji to beat Scotland 31-14.
The areas of concern to coach Iliesa Tanivula will be in kick-off where they failed to dominate their opponents and also on play-maker Peni Gaunimeke poor decision when he kicked away possession when Fiji was on attack.
