Fiji remains committed to the One China Policy - Akbar

Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar says Fiji and China have enjoyed peaceful and friendly diplomatic relations over the last 44 years and wishes that it continues in the years to come.

While speaking at the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China celebrations, Akbar says Fiji remains committed to the One China Policy and they also extend their gratitude to the Chinese government for adopting a policy of non-interference in its domestic affairs.

Akbar says the people of Fiji thank the Chinese community in Fiji for their contribution towards the Fijian economy.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo acknowledged the Chinese community and its members for their contributions that they have made over the years in promoting the development of Fiji/China progress.

Bo says China will continue to promote its strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development with Fiji.
