Once consultations over the draft Media industry development decree is completed, the Fiji Media Council will seek permission from Government to hold a meeting to see whether there is a future for the Media council.
Council Executive, Bob Pratt said they have been a part of the public consultations however following the release of the final Decree, they will seek permission for a meeting to discuss the issues further.
The Fiji Media Council was set up to promote and encourage quality journalism as well as look into complaints lodged against any media organisation.
Meanwhile, Pratt has expressed joy at the inclusion of the Media Code of Ethics saying that the Council will back the Decree as it is a fruit of various discussions in the past.
