The Vodafone Flying Fijians have lost to Wales 23‑13 in their third pool game of the Rugby World Cup this morning.

Wales scored two tries to Fiji's one while flyhalf Dan Biggar stepped up again to kick three penalties.

Fiji's only try was scored by center Vereniki Goneva from a counter attack and a break from Asaeli Tikoirotuma.

Fiji's flyhalf Ben Volavola missed two crucial penalties which could have given the national side a good chance to take the lead.

Captain Akapusi Qera says basic mistakes let them down.

Coach John McKee says there is no excuse as they are in a tough pool and have to play the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranked teams in the world in 13 days.

Wales captain Sam Warburton was disappointed that they did not get a bonus point victory.

Wales now tops Pool A with 13 points, Australia is second place with 9, England is third with 6, Fiji is fourth and Uruguay is at fifth place.

Fiji will now face Uruguay at 7am next Wednesday while England will face Australia at 7am Sunday.

Meanwhile, France defeated Canada 41-18.
