Fiji is stronger when everyone stands together - SODELPA

Fiji is stronger when everyone stands together - SODELPA

In the wake of the recent attack on the Shiv Mandir in Samabula, members of the SODELPA Party have visited the temple to personally express their support and solidarity with the Hindu community.

SODELPA says one party member, a direct descendant of Pandit Lek Ram Sharma, was joined by his wife, whose grandfather was the late Salik Ram Sharma, former President of Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.

They say the recent attack on this sacred Mandir is not only unacceptable but a direct affront to our shared values of respect, unity, and religious harmony.

SODELPA strongly urges members of the public to assist the Fiji Police Force by treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves and allowing a full and impartial investigation to proceed.

They say the alleged offender is expected to appear in court on Monday, and they encourage all to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its proper course.

The party is also calling for increased police presence and regular patrols at religious sites to ensure the safety and reassurance of our communities.

SODELPA adds now more than ever, we must remember that Fiji is stronger when we stand together and let us reject hatred, promote unity and be one people – duavata, united.

Meanwhile, the suspect who allegedly entered and desecrated the Sanatan Shiv Mandir yesterday afternoon has been referred for a psychiatric evaluation.
