The Japanese Government has issued an invitation to Fiji's Ambassador to Japan Ratu Inoke Kubuabola to represent the country at the Pacific Island Leaders Meeting (PALM) this month.
Spokesman for Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yasuhisa Kawamura confirmed the invitation saying that they had extended the invitation to Kubuabola.
Kawamura added the main purpose of the meeting is not to discuss anything political, but to discuss environmental issues.
Australia will attend the meeting for the first time and is yet to nominate a delegate.
The 5th PALM summit will be held in Japan on May 22nd to the 23rd.
