Fiji downs Samoa
Fiji Sevens star Vereniki Goneva scored the only try of the match as the Flying Fijians defeated Samoa by 19 points to 14 in the fourth round of the IRB Pacific Nations Cup competition.

Goneva came in as a replacement and scored the try in the second spell which was converted by Seremaia Bai.

Fiji trailed 9-3 at the break with Samoa kicking two penalties while Bai pulled three points also from a penalty.

But the Flying Fijians really played well in the second half and also had a good defense.

Bai again kicked three penalties in the second half but a blunder by fullback Taniela Rawaqa saw Samoa score a try which they failed to convert.

This means that Fiji will remain in the top 10 at the IRB World Rugby Rankings and could finish in second place in this year's Pacific Nations Cup.

Meanwhile, in the other match played today, Japan maintained their perfect record against Tonga beating them by 21 points to 19.

The last round of games will be played next Thursday where Tonga will take on Junior All Blacks and on Friday, the Flying Fijians will meet Japan.
