Fiji defeats NZ 26-10 to qualify for medal semis against Scotland
Fiji 7s team at the Wellington 7s.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will now play Scotland at 4.16pm in the medal semifinal after defeating New Zealand 26-10 in their quarterfinal match.

Veteran Joeli Lutumailagi scored Fiji’s first two tries which were converted as Fiji led 14-0.

Play maker Jerry Tuwai scored Fiji’s third try as Fiji led 19-0.

Veteran New Zealand forward DJ Forbes scored after the half time siren to bring his side in the game.

Fiji led 19-5 at half time.

It was a tough second half for Fiji as New Zealand applied the pressure but the Fijian defence stood tall and defended their line.             

Jerry Tuwai who is performing exceptionally well at the tournamnet set up Jasa Veremalua for Fiji’s final try.

Tim Mikkelson got the consolation try for New Zealand at full time.

Team captain Osea Kolinisau says that they are proud of the victory.

The medal semi-final will start at 4.16pm while the final is at 7.30pm.

In the first quarter final Scotland beat England 14-12 while Canada have defeated Argentina 17-12 to qualify for the second semifinal.

South Africa defeated France 45-0.
