Fiji bundled out in quarters
The Digicel Fiji Sevens team suffered an early exit in their defense of the Melrose Cup after losing to Kenya 26-7 early this morning.

The Iliesa Tanivula coached side which had the services of five players who were part of the 2005 RWC winning team, could not click against a fitter and much stronger Kenyan side who dominated play  throughout the game.

Kenya led 14-0 at half time before they increased their lead to 26-0 before a try came in from Orisi Sareki.

The much fitter Kenyan side put on a spectacular performance to outclass the defending champions.

Although Coach Tanivula made a few changes to the side to have Filimoni Delasau and Orisi Sareki, this could not help the side as they went down in the quarterfinals.

This was the first time for Fiji to go down in the quarters but this was the same for the other two top nations New Zealand and England who also bowed out in the quarters, which was marked with upsets right from the start.

Newly crowned RWC winners, Wales beat Argentina 19-12, though they were trailing 12-7 at half time.

Coach John Paul said this win is a tribute to the teams consistency.
