The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has qualified for the final of the Las Vegas 7s after defeating defending champion South Africa 24-19 in the first semifinal.

Fiji was leading at halftime 19-0 with a try from Semi Kunatani, Jerry Tuwai and an intercept try from Viliame Mata.

Fiji has never won in Las Vegas but has won in San Diego in 2007.

Looking at the game against South Africa, the national side has improved in their defense and counter ruck which forced two South African players to be sent out.

With Captain Osea Kolinisau injured, playmaker Vatemo Ravouvou, Emosi Mulevoro and Jerry Tuwai stepped up and delivered what was expected of them.

Meanwhile, lanky forwards Semi Kunatani and Viliame Mata were phenomenal with their offloads and contesting scrums and lineouts.

The Cup final between Fiji and New Zealand will be at 11.25am.

Portugal has won the Shied final after defeating Wales 19-12, Kenya won the Bowl after beating Argentina 24-21 while Australia has won the plate after defeating England 21-14.
