The Fiji Women’s 7s team has been bundled out of the Rio Olympics medal competition after they lost 26-7 to Great Britain in the quarters.

Litia Naiqato scored Fiji’s only try in the first half.

Great Britain led 19-7 at halftime and scored four tries in the match.

The Fiji women’s 7s team had thrashed Colombia 36-0 in their final pool match early this morning.

Fiji beat USA 12-7 in their first pool match but was then thrashed 36-0 by Australia.

The Fiji women’s 7s team will now play in the second semifinal of the fifth place playoff at 5am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Australia will face Canada in the first medal semifinal while Great Britain will meet New Zealand.

The medal semifinals start at 5.30am tomorrow while the women’s 7s Olympic final will kick off at 10am tomorrow.

In boxing Fiji’s boxer Winston Hill lost his fight to Vladimir Margaryan.

Margaryan won all three rounds on points but received some big punches from Hill.

The points were 10-9 in favour of Margaryan in every round.
