The Fiji Times has refuted the statement made by Police where they said the newspaper article headlined “Boy sleeps in cell” was wrong and stresses that the mother and the boy in question were never kept in a cell as the officers quickly made arrangements for them.

Fiji Times Editor Fred Wesley says what they reported was based on claims made in an open court by lawyer Iqbal Khan.

The Fiji Police Force has stated they will not comment further on the issue.
