Fiji Red Cross Society apologises to woman who received expired toothpaste

The Fiji Red Cross Society has apologised to the woman in the Northern Division who received an expired toothpaste as part of their assistance and has assured that this will not be repeated.

When questioned by Fijivillage, Director-General Ilisapeci Rokotunidau says they have confiscated the expired item from the woman and their teams are re-checking all the relief items that they have supplied.

She adds to ensure that this is not repeated, they have implemented a re-checking system before any delivery.

Rokotunidau says the expired items were supposed to be destroyed as they had put them aside after conducting a stock-take of items before the cyclone season.

She says they were notified of this issue by the National Disaster Management Office.

The Director adds every 6-months they conduct a stock-take of their items and any items found to be expired is destroyed.
