The Fiji Police Waterpol Unit has received a fibre-glass boat worth $11,000 from Digicel Fiji to boost its effort in monitoring borders.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Itendra Nair says the partnership will plug the gaps and challenges they have in terms of their capabilities.

He says there have been some maritime areas where they had a lot of drug issues and challenges and the assistance will help in trying to alleviate the situations they have been confronted with.

Nair has assured Digicel Fiji Limited that the boat will be utilised for the intention they have given them.
