As underage people continue to be allowed into nightclubs and are also being served drinks, the Fiji Police Force has revealed that they have had meetings with nightclubs and bars to curb the problem.
Police Assistant Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said that the cases of youth being allowed into nightclubs and also being served drinks has been brought to their attention adding that it has been an on-going problem.
Sokomuri said over the past few weeks they have met with night club operators as well as hoteliers to ensure that they follow the law.
He stressed the rules are very clear that it is illegal for people below 18 to enter nightclubs or to be served drinks.
Fijivillage has noted that these young people are allowed into the nightclubs where they spend the whole night drinking.
The Health Ministry's Adolescent Project Officer Sister Sulueti Duvaga and the Emerging Leaders Forum Alumni Filomena Tuivanualevu say when the youth are drunk, they are not able to control themselves, ending up in dangerous situations.
