Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu

The Fiji Police Force is currently formulating a policy to allow random drug testing of police officers.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says drug tests are currently only mandatory for new recruits.

He adds that they also want to review the Police Act to grant them the power to conduct drug tests on police officers.

Tudravu says that in the absence of such legal provisions, a policy will be put in place to manage the issue of drug use within the Police Force.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner confirms that the Office of the Solicitor General is currently working on the review of the Police Act.
