Fiji High Commissioner in NZ highlights seniors' role and heritage ahead of Fiji Day celebrations

As Fiji’s High Commission in New Zealand is celebrating International Day for Older Persons and Fiji Day, Commissioner Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has emphasised the vital role of seniors in the communities and the importance of Fijian heritage. Ratu Inoke expressed his gratitude to the Fiji Girmit Foundation for it’s efforts to promote unity and diversity among Fiji’s senior community.

He says the wisdom and experience of seniors form the bedrock of the society and we should reflect on the importance of supporting and caring for elders. As Fiji Day approaches, with celebrations scheduled for October 19th at Mangere Centre Park in Auckland, the High Commissioner is urging the community to embrace their cultural identity and the values that define them as Fijians.

He says Fiji Day is not only a celebration but a testament to the resilience of the Fijian community New Zealand and perseverance of Fijian culture and traditions.

Fiji Day will be celebrated on the 10th of October.
