Fiji FA to have new President
A new person will run the show at the Fiji Football Association office from tomorrow after 26 years of Doctor Muhammad Samshud Dean Sahu Khan’s reign as the President.

Dr Sahu Khan who has been holding the post since 1985, is in New Zealand and has not sought re-election.

A lot needs to be done as many soccer fans said we need to improve our World soccer ranking.

The Fiji soccer team is currently ranked 147th and its ranking always hovers around 140th to 160th.

Domestically, a lot more needs to be done as the standard of soccer is very low when it comes to the local tournaments.

Many have even compared the local tournaments to bazaar tournaments where many teams just play kick and chase soccer.

The Fiji soccer team lost to Solomon Islands in the semifinals of the Pacific Games this year.

In 2007 we lost to New Caledonia in the Pacific Games in Samoa while in the 2003 SPG in Fiji, our National team won gold after beating New Caledonia.

Questions are also being raised on why we continue to play 60 minutes soccer games in the local tournaments because at the professional level, no soccer game lasts only 60 minutes.

The question is whether changes will occur in this area.

Former Fiji FA Vice President, Rajesh Patel and Wheels Of Change, candidate, Shalendra Prasad are vying for the post of Fiji FA President and they have both promised changes.

In a talk-back show with our sister station, Radio Sargam last night, Patel states he is the right man to take Fiji soccer forward.
