Fiji Corrections and Peacebuilding strengthen partnership to promote restorative justice

The Fiji Corrections Service and the Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their partnership in promoting restorative justice and rehabilitation in Fiji’s correctional system.

Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Sevuloni Naucukidi acknowledged PCP’s long-standing support since 2009 in helping inmates transform and reintegrate into society.

Naucukidi says the renewed partnership aligns with FCS’s goal of building safer communities through collaboration.

PCP Executive Director, Florence Swami says the MOU lays the groundwork for advancing peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts within the corrections system.

It will also enable PCP to train FCS staff in restorative justice and support programs that prepare inmates and victims for reintegration.

Swami says the signing marks a renewed commitment by both organizations to foster healing, restoration, and community resilience across Fiji.
