The Fiji Corrections Service has handed over a cheque of $561,069.44 to the Ministry of Economy.
This was the profit from the Small Business Units of the Fiji Corrections Service for the 2018/2019 financial year. These units are Tailor, Joinery, Poultry, Farms, Piggery and Bakery.
The Commissioner of Corrections, Commander Francis Kean says this was their fifth such return since the inception of their Trading and Manufacturing Account in 2009.
He says they are glad to be presenting government their biggest profit since 2015.

they understand that there are no magic ways to make profit but there are things they have to do to improve financial growth.
He has commended the Fiji Corrections Service for working towards achieving the targets.
Commander Kean highlighted that it was about teaching prisoners a new skill, instilling discipline, teaching financial literacy, how to operate and manager small business enterprises and most importantly another shot at life once they are discharged from their supervision.
