To help cancer patients keep warm during this cold weather, the Fiji Cancer Society is currently holding a blanket drive.

The Society says 170 people have been diagnosed with cancer so far this year while there were 161 newly diagnosed cancer patients last year.

CEO Belinda Chan adds they have been receiving numerous requests for blankets especially from patients in the Western Division to see them through this cold season.

She says they have started distributing the blankets and are hoping to collect at least 200 blankets.

Chan adds people can also donate warm clothes.

She says last year they collected 200 blankets which they distributed both cancer patients in hospitals as well as those being cared for at home.

Blankets can be dropped off at Fiji Cancer Society’s office 2/333 Waimanu Road, Suva. People can also contact them on 9986127 for more information.
