Fiji Bus Operators Association disagrees with Rishi’s comments
The Fiji Bus Operators Association totally disagrees with the comments made by the General Secretary of the Fiji Taxi Association that females who catch taxis should dress up in a presentable manner to avoid any sort of harassment by some taxi drivers.

Association General Secretary Rohit Latchan said that women have the right to decide what they wish to wear and a PSV driver has no right to harass a female passenger in any form.

Latchan said all PSV drivers should know and understand their responsibility and duty toward their passengers.

He also warned drivers to refrain from treating their female passengers disrespectfully.

He is also calling on female passengers to come forward and report the matter if they are harassed by any PSV driver.

Rishi Ram’s comments also follow the statements made by the Emerging Leaders Alumni last week about the continuing and increasing number of cases of harassment and abuse of females by PSV drivers.

12 female passengers spoke about their ordeal of being sexually harassed by PSV drivers, mainly taxi drivers.

Coordinator Emerging Leaders Alumni Roshika Deo said that it is very unfortunate and sad that people in such authority like Rishi Ram are shifting the blame and responsibility from the perpetrators to the women.
