Fiji 7s team continue with their preparation for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

The Fiji Rugby Union has given the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team training programs to continue with their preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Chief Executive Officer, John O’Connor says they are complying with the Ministry of Health advisory on COVID-19 and players have been given training programs to continue with their preparation individually.

O’Connor says training programs have also been given to the national fifteen players including the Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors, Swire Shipping Fijian Latui and the Vodafone Fiji Under 20 teams.

He adds they will be monitoring the situation of COVID-19 in the country and will advice their members if there are any updates accordingly.

The International Olympics Committee is considering a postponement of Tokyo 2020 and has given itself a deadline of four weeks to make a decision.

According to the International Olympic Committee, cancellation is "not on the agenda" but a 'scaled-down' Games will be considered.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are expected to be held on the 24th of July to the 9th of August.
