Fiji 7s stamp mark as team to defeat in Marist 7s after 31-12 victory over Uluinakau

Defending champion Fiji stamped their mark as the team to beat in the 47th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s after thumping Nawaka 7s runners-up, Kombat Uluinakau, 31-12 this morning.

The Fiji team has the services of players that are with the Fiji 7s extended squad and also players currently playing in the World 7s Series.

Meanwhile, it was an emotional win for the Teidamu Rugby 7s side from Ba as they won their first Marist 7s match, defeating USP 12-0.

In other results from the matches held at the HFC Bank stadium ground, Veiqaravi Nadroga Navosa 1 defeated Vomo Island 17-0, Soqobitu Rugby beat Nasaucoko Warriors 15-5, Plantation Island Rugby thumped New Caledonia 27-5, Ratu Filise thrashed Qauia Rugby 33-7, and Tabadamu beat Raiwasa Taveuni 12-5.

Looking at the results from the matches at Bidesi Park, Lavena Reds edged Waidina Rugby 7-5, Bula Brothers 1 beat Malolo Island Resort 14-5, Barbarians defeated Viria Blues 19-5, and Navala Rugby beat Veiqaravi Nadroga Navosa 2 17-7.

The Youth quarter-finals will be held this afternoon.

Vunidawa Reds will face Waitabu at 4.35pm, Seekadah Babas will play Ravuka Sharks at 4.53pm, defending youth champion Dominion Brothers will take on Ralagi Youth at 5.09pm and Natabua Beez will face RKS Old Boys at 5.29pm.

The women’s quarter-finals will be held tomorrow.

In the women’s quarter-finals, Army Women will face Middle Women Steelers at 8am, Police Women will meet Striders at 8.17am, Seahawks 1 will take on Tagimoucia Ranadi at 8.34am and Seahawks 2 will play Fire Women at 8.51am.
