Festive season brings increase in drunk drivers
With Christmas in two days time there has been a spike in drunk and drive cases recorded.

According to Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra within the past two days 21 drivers around the country have been booked for drunk and drive.

Mishra said with Operation Blitz underway in all divisions they are not sparing any offender that will be held accountable for their offence.

He said going into Christmas Day and New Years police officers will be seen in more numbers out and about in all divisions.

Mishra added more drivers are also being caught for insecure travel of passengers in the tray of twin cabs which will not be tolerated.

Statistics revealed that 359 drivers were booked for speeding, 19 for careless driving while 107 were for other offences for the past two days.

Meanwhile, a Road Safety campaign was today launched in Labasa.
