Father still waiting for final decision from Police and DPP
A Nadi father whose 10-year-old son died in a road accident on the 22nd of last month is still waiting for the final decision from the Police and the DPP on whether the driver will be charged.

Kamlesh Chandra said after he raised the matter with Fijivillage earlier this month, the Police Director Traffic Mahesh Mishra went to Nadi last week to see him and give an update on the investigations.

Police have confirmed that the case has been forwarded to the DPP’s Office for advice.

They had earlier said that more evidence was needed to lay charges.

Chandra’s son was on his way to school when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle which then caused the death of the 10-year-old boy.

He claimed that the driver has now gone to Japan.

Police said the driver was not formally charged and they cannot stop him from leaving the country.
