Farmers are urged to implement preventative measures to mitigate risks to life and property.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways says farmers in the identified areas are advised to take immediate precautions and make the necessary preparatory arrangements to minimize damage to crops and livestock.

They also highlight that farmers living in flood-prone areas are advised to move their livestock to higher grounds.

They add farmers are also advised to salvage much of the crops from the flood-prone areas secure their planting materials and store them safely so they can use them after the floodwaters have receded.

They say farmers also have to be wary of culverts and other waterways created by floods and keep family members and animals away from them.
