A 49-year-old farmer who allegedly made online threats against the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has been released on $500 cash bail.

Isikeli Komaisavai allegedly called for Sayed-Khaiyum to be killed in a Facebook post written in the itaukei language on the 10th of this month.

Suva Magistrate Joseph Daurewa has ordered Komaisavai to deactivate the Facebook account – Isikeli Tabakaucoro Komaisavai which he allegedly used to make the online threats.

Daurewa has also ordered Komaisavai to provide a screenshot as proof of the deactivation to the court registry by Thursday.

He has ordered Komaisavai to report to the Samabula Police Station every Saturday from this week and not to re-offend.

Komaisavai has also been ordered not to change his residential address and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.

He is charged with one count of Causing Harm by Posting Electronic Communication.

The matter has been adjourned to the 8th of April.
