The Transport Ministry is expected to make a decision on Monday on the increase in bus and taxi fares following discussions with relevant stakeholders.
Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said they met with representatives of the Land Transport Authority and other stakeholders this morning.
She added government is facing problems to reach a decision as majority of the people in the country use public service vehicles.
Meanwhile, Fiji Bus Operators Association general secretary Rohit Latchan said he is still waiting for official confirmation from the ministry.
The Fiji Taxi Union could not be reached for comments.
