A family of seven of Waimanu Road are safe after their house caught fire this morning.
A family member told us that they were outside when the fire started and they are lucky that no one was injured.
The fire destroyed the bottom flat of the double storey house.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
Two fire trucks were at the scene and firefighters managed to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby homes.
An eyewitness told us that the fire started at around 8 this morning.
