Families in Tubou, Lakeba in Lau have packed their belongings and are waiting for instructions as they say it is really hot and they can see airborne ash everywhere.

A resident says the airborne ash is from the volcanic eruption in Tonga and they are really concerned about it.

She says they are worried and also thinking of the elderly members in their families.

She is also pleading to the Government officials to provide timely updates and confirmation on what is happening on the ground.

The NDMO and Fiji Meteorological Services have advised people that airborne ash is occurring over the southernmost islands with medium to light airborne ash as far north as Tubou and Moala, and about to move into Kadavu.
