FRU receives relief funding from World Rugby
Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor

The Fiji Rugby Union has received relief funding from World Rugby for the Fiji men’s and women’s 7s teams Olympics preparation.

The maximum a team could apply for is about US$100,000

Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor says they have been able to support both the men’s and women’s 7s teams in their preparation and they also thank the government for contributing funds.

He says they are thankful that their programs are running as usual and that all players are still under contracts.

Coach Gareth Baber says they have to be realistic and financially there have been challenges because of COVID-19.
