FRU expected to receive funding from World Rugby for Olympics preparations
Fiji Rugby Union’s CEO, John O Connor

Fiji Rugby Union’s CEO, John O Connor says they have been advised by World Rugby that there is relief funding available for Olympics preparation.

O Connor says he believes the maximum a team can apply for is about US$100,000.

He says they will await further instructions from World Rugby and complete relevant application next month.

While Wales and England have dropped their sevens programme due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, O’Connor says for Fiji, sevens is the platform and FRU will do everything to support the men’s team to defend the 7’s Olympics title and women’s team to play in the Olympics.
