The Fiji Roads Authority says it is now trying to restore emergency access for the buses on Naividamu Road in Seaqaqa.

This is being done after serious concerns were raised regarding the deplorable condition of Naividamu Road where a Dalip Chand and Sons Limited bus is seen stuck in the muddy and soggy road.

Photos supplied to Fijivillage show the bus tyres stuck in the soggy road and the soil is touching the steps of the bus.

The FRA says this has been caused by logging operators carting logs on these roads and worsening road conditions.

Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Moore says that the matter has been reported to the Department of Forestry, as the logger has breached their Permit Conditions for carting during the wet weather.

He says in the long term, they have major gravel layers programmed along with drainage works on approximately 10km of this 30km long route.

This is more likely to start from August.

The FRA has stated that members of the public can contact LTA, Fiji Police or FRA on 5720 if they see overloaded vehicles carting loads on gravel roads during wet weather.
