FNU staff request for government grants to build new classrooms

FNU staff request for government grants to build new classrooms

Staff of the Fiji National University says they need more grants and capital from the government to upgrade and build more classrooms and lecture rooms.

While giving their suggestions during the National Development Plan consultation at the FNU campus in Nasinu, a staff highlighted that the classrooms and lecture rooms are old.

She says their student numbers increase each year and some rooms are not able to cater for all students.

The staff further says many students are now opting for Zoom sessions therefore there needs to be better infrastructure and teaching aids provided as well as including ICT learning for Zoom sessions.

Ministry of Finance Senior Economist Kamal Gounder says the 2024 budget submission is open which can be proposed to the Ministry.

He also says that tertiary institutions are too dependent on the government as well and do not look for other options to get money to do things which they will be focusing on.
