The Fiji National Provident Fund has forwarded more than one hundred defaulting employers name to the Immigration Department as it steps up its efforts in trying to collect outstanding contributions.
Manager Public Relations & Corporate Communications Wainikiti Bogidrau revealed to Fijivillage that the total figure owned by employers for unpaid contributions for the financial year 2009 today stands at close to $7million.
Bogidrau said the step taken to forward the names of defaulting employers to the Immigration department is to strengthen their campaign at collecting the outstanding money.
The FNPF states that employers have been given 10 working days to clear outstanding FNPF contributions owed to their workers and make arrangements to settle their accounts, otherwise names will be forwarded to the Director of Immigration for further action.
Bogidrau added that employers who fail to comply will not be permitted to leave the country.
