FLP and Unity Fiji take the Constitutional Offices Commission and AG to court

The case where the Fiji Labour Party and Unity Fiji Party have taken the Constitutional Offices Commission and the Attorney General to court was called for the first time today before Chief Justice Kamal Kumar.

The two parties say this case deals with the alleged failure of the Constitutional Offices Commission to perform its constitutional function and appoint a tribunal to investigate the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem for alleged misbehaviour.

They say the instances of the alleged misbehaviour were fully disclosed in the petition sent to the Chairman of the Constitutional Offices Commission by the leaders of SODELPA, NFP, FLP and Unity Fiji in August 2021.

R Patel Lawyers partner Devanesh Sharma and Associate Gul Fatima are representing the Constitutional Offices Commission and the Attorney General.

The matter has been adjourned to 26th April where the Chief Justice will set directions.
