FIFA World Cup host, Qatar eliminated after 3-1 loss to Senegal
Senegal reached the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 but suffered a group-stage exit four years ago in Russia

The 2022 FIFA World Cup host, Qatar, is out of the tournament after Senegal defeated them 3-1 in their second match this morning.

Ecuador beat Qatar 2-0 on Monday in their first game.

Manager Felix Sanchez says Qatar should not be called a failure and disappointment after being eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup.

African champions Senegal are leading Group A.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made stunning reflex saves to deny Almoez Ali and Ismail Mohamad, but he could do nothing about Mohammed Muntari's powerful header.

In other matches, Iran upset Wales 2-0, while the Netherlands drew with Ecuador 1-all.

Meanwhile, England and the USA are locked at nil-all in their second match.

If England wins, they will be the first team to qualify for Round 16 playoffs.
