FICAC investigates awarding of many govt contracts
A new vehicle given to a government official in exchange for an inflated payment for a contract is just one of the underhand dealings uncovered during investigations by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption or FICAC.

This is according to Colonel George Langman FICAC Deputy Commissioner while highlighting the abuse of Government Contracts during the recent International Anti Corruption Day.

Langman added that amongst the numerous corrupt deals uncovered are the false and double payments of large amounts of Government funds, full payments being released to contracts that are left incomplete and government contracts being awarded to contractors who do not possess the machines needed to carry out the required work.

Some cases have been forwarded to the courts while others are still under investigation.

Fijivillage had asked for further details.

However FICAC said they cannot disclose more information at this stage.
