A part-time soccer commentator, Ajnal Anal Bhai has been charged with 51 counts of obtaining financial advantage by FICAC, and a stop-departure order has also been issued against the accused.

FICAC says it is alleged that between the 1st of May 2019 and the 31st of May 2020 in the Central Division, Bhai engaged in fraudulent conduct by selling a piece of land in Makoi, which he did not own, to genuine individuals interested in purchasing land and, as a result of such conduct, obtained a financial advantage of $106,100 for himself from these unsuspecting individuals, knowing he was not eligible to receive the financial advantage.

Junior State Counsel Rajiv Pathak informed the court that the first phase of disclosures has been served.

Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad granted a non-cash bail of $5,000 and ordered the accused to not re-offend whilst on bail and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses with other strict conditions, including reporting to the FICAC Suva Office once a month.

The matter has been adjourned to the 9th of May for mention to check on the second phase of disclosures.
