The Fijian Elections Office has called for the second round of tenders for services and material needed for the 2018 elections.

While making the announcement, the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says these include postal voting courier services, ballot paper printing, the supply of polling station sheds and the expressions of interest for the suppliers of motor vehicles.

Saneem says the specifications of ballot papers will be decided once the candidates are confirmed.

He says they have divided the entire globe into 4 regions in an attempt to streamline the distribution and return of postal ballots.

Saneem says the regions include Local Fiji, Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand and the Rest of the World.

He says there are 620,000 registered voters and he assumes that this number may go up to 630,000 nearing the elections.

The Supervisor of Elections says that the maximum daily price for hiring a 4x4 double cab utility vehicle will be $350 and they will be needing 115 of these vehicles.

Saneem says they will also need 100 3 tonne trucks with a cost of $500 per day while the 15, 5 tonnes trucks will be for $700.

He says that these trucks will be needed to comply with certain hygiene and safety features.
