The Fijian Elections Office is reassuring the public that all electoral operations remain secure and functional following the recent fire at the Gokals Office and Warehouse in Toorak, Suva.

Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa says the fire spread to a section of the FEO premises and partially affected one of its levels.

Mataiciwa says with the swift and professional response of the National Fire Authority, the blaze was contained, preventing further damage.

She further says that the FEO is working closely with the relevant authorities to support ongoing investigations into the incident.

Mataiciwa adds that the FEO Headquarters will remain closed until further notice to allow for the necessary assessments, however, the Voter Services Centres in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa will continue to operate as normal.

The public will be informed once assessments are complete and the Headquarters is ready to reopen.
