With the new school year beginning next Monday, Foundation for the Education of Needy Children Fiji is requesting for donors in order to help support over 5000 students.

FENC Fiji representative Dwain Qalovaki says the foundation has a database of over 5,000 students from all over the country.

He says these students are academically gifted, yet at risk students.

Qalovaki says these students are classified as at risk as they may come from poor families, or one or both of their parents are in prison and also one or both of their parents are admitted in the hospital with a life threatening condition.

He adds that so far the foundation has been able to support 2,500 children and are still looking for donors that would be able to contribute to the organisation financially.

Qalovaki says they have commercial arrangements in place to buy things for the children in bulk at cheap prices and the foundation just needs donors that are wiling to support them financially.

He says the children are given an un-branded school bag that is filled with stationary, exercise books and a raincoat.

Qalovaki has placed emphasis on the bags being un-branded as this will enable the child from not being labeled as one that is supported and also so that the child is not reminded daily that he or she is poor.

People that are interested in sponsoring a child can contact FENC Fiji on their social media pages which is FENC Fiji.
