The Fiji Council of Social Services commends the coalition government for the speed at which they were able to produce the National Development Plan 2025-2029, but Director Vani Catanasiga cautions the government of the issues that can arise within the coalition as it consists of three parties.

Catanasiga says it's so good to see that the plan is out, and the plan acknowledges that people's development is critical.

She says it was great that the government conducted a National Economic Summit last year, which provided the officials from the Ministry of Finance the evidence upon which they could build this National Development Plan.

The FCOSS Director highlighted that there are problems with silo approaches to responding to some of the issues that affect development and the well-being of people, and those are historical issues at the operational level.

Catanasiga asks the coalition government to ensure that they manage that well so that it does not affect them in the future.

She adds there will always be tension as the coalition government is made up of three parties.
