The ex-scholars of Levuka Public School have started to organize donations for those students who lost all their belongings in a fire on Friday afternoon.
A former scholar and Levuka Town Council Chief Executive Officer Suliana Sandy said they have been trying to help students so that they are able to go back to school.
Sandy said some of these students come from faraway places whose parents go through hardships to ensure that their children are well equipped for school however all this has been lost in the fire.
The Education Ministry had earlier confirmed that they are receiving assistance for the students and they have also liaised with donor agencies.
Classes have resumed at the school.
Meanwhile investigations into the fire at the Levuka Public School hostel dormitory revealed that the probable cause of fire is an electrical short circuit.
This has been confirmed by National Fire Authority.
The dormitory housed seventy-seven students.
