A man accused of abducting and attempting to rape a 8-year-old student in December last year has applied for bail in the Suva Magistrates Court.
He has been remanded by Magistrate Deepika Prakash but the Police Prosecution has been told to respond to his bail application and to clearly state whether they want the man to be out on bail or not.
The prosecution has been given three days to respond.
Etuate Lesukilau allegedly abducted the girl at a settlement in Suva on 3rd December last year.
He committed the offence as the girl was on her way to meet her father after 5.30pm that day.
The girl managed to run away after biting the man’s finger.
She immediately told her father what had happened and he reported the matter to Police.
